Contrel
is is a research organization active in the field of women’s health care.
Contrel’s aim is to find improved and more acceptable methods of contraception in order to increase contraceptive prevalence.
Contrel’s aim is also to develop intrauterine methods for the treatment of frequently occurring gynecological disturbances which provide higher levels of safety, user acceptability, compliance and quality of life for women.
The research organization has a proprietary technology: the anchoring technology, a unique and simple device (inserter) enabling implantation of contraceptive and other treatment systems into the uterine cavity. The technology allows for the controlled release of drugs into the uterine cavity. The technology serve as platform for developing products containing different types of active compounds.

GyneFix®330 GyneFix®200 |
GyneFix®330 and GyneFix®200 – A long-acting miniature copper IUD for contraception and reversible female sterilisation that is smaller, simpler in design and more flexible than other IUDs, and thus suitable for a greater number of women. GyneFix® consists of two models: GyneFix® standard which is 3 cm long with copper suface area of 330 mm2, and GyneFix® mini with a length of 2 cm and a copper surface area of 200 mm2. The latter is the smallest copper IUD ever developed with high efficacy.
The simple design characteristics and revolutionary anchoring system of GyneFix® account for minimising the occurrence of complaints of pain and expulsion.
Approvals
GyneFix®
is approved for marketing in the EU (CE Mark) and other
countries such as China, Indonesia and Kenya. Filing in other
countries is currently being prepared.
Only GyneFix® is available for sale at this moment. GyneFix®
is not yet available in the USA.
