Contrel is a Belgian research organization active in the field of intrauterine systems ("IUSs") for contraception and treatment in women’s health.  It provides innovative contraceptive products suitable for a wider range of female health needs than present intrauterine devices ("IUDs") and drug delivery systems for hormone replacement therapy (HRT), gynecological treatments (such as menorrhagia, adenomyosis, fibromyoma) as well as contraception, allowing greater assurance of long-term beneficial health effects at lower cost than present methods.

Contrel's original goal is to reduce side effects associated with current intrauterine devices and systems (IUDs and IUSs) and other contraceptive methods while enhancing contraceptive effectiveness and facilitating continuation of use.  Additional developments focus on optimised drug delivery for improved health, quality of life and patient compliance.
